Behind the Scenes
I’m not a Michael Moore fan, but I went and saw Sicko over the weekend, and I was pretty impressed. I’ve held the opinion for a long time that our health care system is completely broken, and we need to look across the pond to Europe for ways to fix it.
In the video below, Michael Moore does a great job sticking it to Wolf Blitzer. I haven’t watched cable news regularly for about five years, but its amazing how bad TV news has become. Its hard to believe, but a decade ago CNN had a lot of credibility. Today, CNN is no better than Fox News.
I have to say, I saw Borat last week and it was quite possibly the funniest movie I’ve ever seen, period. I rarely go to the movies anymore, and I can’t think of the last time I wanted to go back to see a movie again.
I saw the midnight release of “Revenge of the Sith” last night, and afterwards I feel ill. Fortunately it was probably the enormous amount of popcorn I ate, and not the movie. I’m not going to write a detailed review but here a few quick comments.
This move is by far the strongest of the three prequels, it doesn’t slow to halt like “Attack of the Clones” or feature way too much slapstick kiddie humor like the “Phantom Menace.” What the movie does very good job of is connecting all the dots between the prequels and the original trilogy.
On the downside, the movie still suffers from same of the same faults as the first two prequels. George Lucas cannot not write romantic dialog, I literally had use my hand to prevent uncontrollable laughter, when Natalie Portman said, “Hold my like you did in Naboo.” As with the last movie, Hayden Christianson STILL cannot act for squat. He makes Mark Hamill look like Lawrence Olivier.
The theater, 5 minutes from my apartment, was full of die hard fans dressed in costumes and face paint. There were also a lot of 30-40 year old men in the audience looking to relive a little of their childhood. Online ticketing was available, so I simply purchased tickets online a day before the release, and showed up 30 mins before the doors opened. Overall it was a great experience. With exception of the indigestion, I feel relived that Star Wars as finally come to an end. (Hopefully)
