Feds want to Tap In-Flight Broadband
A lot actions that the US takes for “security reasons,” make absolutely no sense whatsoever. For a classic example, take the photo ID requirement. What security does the photo ID requirement offer? Any 16 year old with a PC can make a photo ID. All of the September 11th hijackers had vaild ID.
The latest ridiculousness is with in-flight broadband access. The feds want the ability to tap any airline within 10 minutes, because of the threat of terrorists collaborating via in-flight broadband.
Now, without thinking about it for a second, ID requirements and in-flight broadband tapping seem like reasonable requests, but can anyone explain how terrorists would use in-flight broadband to coordinate an aviation based terrorist attack? It seems to me that all you need is a clock and a agreed upon target time. What the hell are they going to do, use IM to talk about their attack?
Mohammed202: Akmed what is your status? Are you working or refreshing slashdot for the 1000th time?
