eBay Feedback Deception

December 8th, 2006 asv Leave a comment Go to comments

I was browsing eBay tonight, when I noticed a really low price on a macro lens.

Good Feedback Rating:
Check, 120/100% positive
Established Account: Check, member since Jul-29-98

I actually placed a bid on the item, then I took a quick glance at the seller’s other items.
Wow, 200 items on 1-3 day sales, probably $200,000 worth of merchandise. All of the sudden, a seller with 100 transactions in 8 years is moving 200 big ticket items all at once? Needless to say, I retracted my bid immediately and reported the seller to eBay.

Bottom line, read between the lines when bidding on Ebay. Feedback means nothing when anyone can go bad at any moment, or have their account hijacked.
